He's lying. It can't be the truth without contradicting itself and therefore it's a lie, but some of his statements can be lies, and this is one of those statements.

He can't be telling the truth because he wouldnt be lying when he said that. Now at this point i should say he cant be lying because he would be telling the truth. But his use of an absolute (everything) makes it a lie. Just like if he were to say everything i say is the truth, he would be lying. Not everything you say can be the truth or a lie. Yes you can make ALMOST everything a lie, but not everything. If you passed someone on a street and they said hello to you, and you said bye you would not be lying. Even though you said bye and they said hello it is not a lie. It is a statement. Not a true or false on, just a simple statement. Of course i could of just totally overanaylzed this whole thing as well.

he said that everything he says is a lie, that obviously has to be a lie because he couldn't tell the truth about him always lieing if he lied. if he was lieing then he could still tell the truth because he isn't obligated to only do one or the other.
